Countdown to 2025 - #6 - Exploding Kittens (and my Top 3 Christmas Songs)

I like board and card games, though I don't play them much. It's one of those things you always plan to indulge in, but rarely do.

But... this year I bought Exploding Kittens. It's (too) expensive but a lot of fun. I just found the rules a little confusing (at first).

Road 96 on PS4

Road 96 is an interactive story slash point'n'click adventure. (Or, on the PS4, move-the-pointer-and-sigh-and-click.) Don't expect high speed action, ray traced landscapes, or smooth character animations. It's janky, sometimes illogical, political, and might not be to everyone's liking.

But it's cheap - always a good thing - and it has style and atmosphere. So, why / why not?

Character Names - Fighting Baseball (SNES)

If one doesn't have the license to the official names, then why not simply make up some? That's what EA Sports did in Japan, back in 1994. And aren't they great?

Who doesn't remember the legendary Sleve McDichael, Jeromy Gride, or my all-time favorite, Bobson Dugnutt?

Maar... vind Sony het nou leuk om abbonnement houders te pesten? Ik snap het wel, door iets te verstoppen hopen ze dat je zo lang mogelijk op hun website rond hangt, en daardoor per ongeluk misschien iets anders koopt... Maar... klantvriendelijk is het niet.

I wrote this ages ago... but never posted it. And now the PS5 era has arrived 😁 and still I post something about the PS4... Whatever. Sometimes the PS4 misbehaves with controllers and (longer / weird) USB cables. Here are my personal notes and observations. This also applies to a Logitech G29 Wheel and PCs.

Connect and configure a Steam Controller

It's not a popular controller, but hey, if you have one, why not (try to) use it?

Guild Wars 2 may have better graphics, better monsters, better frenemies, more content, easier skillsets (not sure if that's an improvement, but okay) but Guild Wars 1 had attitude. 

If you never played an MMO, then download the (free!) Guild Wars 2, and enjoy!

PS4 and PC do not recognize a Dualshock controller (connected via USB)

Sometimes you cannot pair a PS4 Dualshock controller with your PS4 using a cable. Sometimes the Remote Play application on Windows does not recognize a connected PS4 controller.

Fortunately, the fix is relatively easy: use another cable.

Netflix - The Witcher

Netflix doesn't get it right all the time. In fact, there's lots of rubbish, and Netflix added their fair share to it.

Still, sometimes there's just something that's worth binging. Take, for example, the first season of The Witcher.

Alan Wake (XBox360 / XBox One)

Remember Alan Wake? In 2010 Remedy Entertainment and Microsoft Studios released Alan Wake for XBox and PC.

Ik ben de trotse bezitter van een originele PS4, een eerste generatie model welke me trouw gediend heeft de laatste 3 jaar. Er zijn zijn twee zaken waar ik niet zo'n fan van ben: het geluid en de opslagruimte.

Het geluid heb ik nog niet gefixed (schoonmaken helpt waarschijnlijk) maar het opslag probleem heb ik opgelost, ook al was het soms moeilijk om de juiste informatie te vinden.

I'm the proud owner of an original PS4, a first generation model, which has served me fine for the last 3 years. There were two things I didn't like much though: disk space and noise.

I couldn't fix the noise (cleaning will help probably) but I did fix the storage issue, though it was sometimes hard to find clear information.

De combinatie van een Ziggo TC7210 en PS4 gaf problemen (NAT3 ipv. NAT2).

Ik heb dit opgelost door de TC7210 in 'bridge' mode te laten zetten.
