The wordcount of (bestselling) novels is decreasing every year

This is a follow-up to Book & Chapter Sizes.

I found some information on the size of best selling books, and it seems they're getting shorter and shorter. Is that Twitter, or do readers simply have less time these days?

That could be the case... Anyway, according to Wordsrated bestsellers are getting smaller and smaller. I took their graph and added wordcount (pages x 275).

I guess the sweetspot is still somewhere around 90k, looking at the graphic above. I wonder though for how long...

They have some other interesting research and statistics.

Of course, it's all on the Internet, so you should never trust any numbers blindly! They might be entirely made up...
