Oh dear. Season 1 was promising, and had some interesting plotlines. An interesting ending. Lots of possibilities for a great season 2.
And then season 2 actually happened.
Canceled
It was not to be. Season 2 turned from a great intrigue into a cheap brawl, lowering itself to Hercules / Xena levels, which couldn't be saved by the LGTBQ+ couple. It might have worked ten (twenty?) years ago, but just won't do these days.
This isn't the first series suffering such a fate. Shadow and Bone takes a similar nosedive at season 2. I wonder if Netflix desperately wants to kill of any promising series, either by outright ending it on a cliffhanger, or by delivering a season so bad that no one wants to watch the sequel...
Verdict
Highly disappointing. I guess they ran out of budget, and I'm not surprised there is no season 3.
Watch season 1, skip season 2, and dream about what this could have been...
