Alice Hoffman - Practical Magic

Audiobook Review / Movie Review.

"The Beloved Novel of Love, Friendship, Sisterhood and Magic". Right. They missed a single word in that description: boring.

Because, I'm sorry, but because that's what it is. Boring. It starts somewhere, it goes somewhere, and it ends somewhere. I made it three quarters through, trying to figure out what was so great about the story, and gave up.

Fortunately, there's also a movie... is there?

Practial Magic - The Movie

Sometimes, movies are better than the books. Practical Magic is still a slow one, featuring the younger pair of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman and has its own problems, but at least it is a little more entertaining.

Truth to be told though, it might mostly appeal to late twenties / early thirties southern belle dropouts with a messed-up love life, and the movie has aged a bit by now. But compared with the book it's miles better, and takes way less time.

You can find the movie on Netflix.

The verdict

Skip the book.

Maybe, just maybe, consider the movie.
