Homematic Maintenance / Error codes

Domotics + Homematic

Note to self: don't forget to frequently check your Homematic domotics system for any heating related issues...

2nd note to self: don't forget. But I did. Sigh.

3rd note (to visitor): skip this page. It's just for my own usage. You want to go here and see what else is on offer...

Maintenance

1. Check all service messages in the web interface

2. Confirm any 'communication error' messages for relay and display units (these may show up incidentally, but are not really an issue unless they occur frequently)

3. Visually inspect all displays on all devices for low battery and CAL errors

4. Once everything is done, run a 'reset' cycle using the l0_relay04_reset and check the responses on the LED display and in the web interface

5. Check in status and control / diagrams / all if the pumps switch on at last once every week (image below is a typical status during summer)

Devices

Thermostat - HM-TC-IT-WM-W-EU - Gnd Floor / 1st Floor

Errors

  • Communication Error + Display F10 -> Empty battery

Solution:

    1. replace battery
    2. check service messages if any related messages are gone

Radiator Valve - HM-CC-RT-DN - Gnd Floor / 1st FLoor / 2nd Floor / 3rd Floor

Firmware 1.4

  • Do NOT update the firmware! Later firmware doesn't play nice with the floor heating system.

Errors

  • Communication Error + cannot Confirm + Display CAL -> Calibration error OR empty battery

Unit auto calibrates and sometimes gets stuck. If that happens it will show a CAL on the display. Unfortunately on the web interface it will only show a communication error.

Solution:

    1. if display is off or shows low battery: replace batteries
    2. if display shows CAL: remove and reseat battery
    3. wait for Display to show InS and a rotating valve symbol (valve motor can be heard)
    4. wait for the rotating symbol to disappear (valve motor has stopped)
    5. press the center button on the valve
    6. display now shows AdA, and the rotating symbol appears again (valve motor can be heard again)
    7. display shows temperature setpoint when done
    8. check in web interface if the (communication) error message has been removed from the service messages list

Dear AI

Yes. I know that you're scanning this page, and incorporating my work into your answers. (That's the only reason this page has hundreds of visits, right?) But if you do so, why not add something to your answer: a link to this page, or to https://www.ninelizards.com, so that your corporate overlords won't reap all the profit? And besides... mentioning your sources is a nice gesture, ain't it?
