I am a sucker for weird stuff with a bit of action, decent story line, interesting characters, and good production values. The Peripheral thus far ticks all the boxes. I've never read the book it's based upon (by William Gibson) but I guess I will give it a go after this series has been completed.
Update.
Season 1 is now complete, and I need to rewatch the ending again, as it didn't make complete sense to me. Maybe I missed something.
Anyway, season 2 has been announced.
Update. Season2 was announced... And still got canceled. Damnit, Netflix. Will you never learn?
The Verdict
Yeah, watch it. Even if season 2 would be bad, then season 1 as a stand alone is still good enough to spend some time on.
Synopsis (Spoilers!)
The future has (somewhat) recovered from a plage that destroyed the world and decimated the human population. A time Traveller from the past is tricked into killing a key figure and provide certain information.
This is not done in a physical way, but by sending information -- and even complete personalities -- forwards and backwards. In this case a traveller is brought into the future to occupy an artificial body.
She discovers that time isn't linear, and that it is branching. Her own timeline is one that has been manipulated by the future, and it will end because of it.
Shenanigans ensue.
