Things are never ever good enough. My god, can people complain!
Yeah, I know. I do as well. It’s only human. But the amount of negativity thrown at the Marvel shows for ‘not being true to the comics’, ‘poor CGI’, ‘discriminating’ and what not… my god! Is there even a way to do things right?!? We’re talking about television series, at smaller budgets, based on fantasy comics… and not everything has to be politically correct!
Peacemaker
Completely not Marvel and completely non-PC. So go and watch Peacemaker. That’ll fix you up 😇
Ok. Back to the subject of this post... Marvel Disney shows...
Moon Knight
Three Marvel shows, and I’ve seen two (update: all three) of them, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel. Moon Knight was fun right from the start, although too short. There was talk about another season, but I wonder if it will ever arrive.
What makes Moon Knight fun is the almost absurdist split personality of the hero... Very well portrayed, and just outright fun.
Verdict
Go and watch Moon Knight, fun from the start!
Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel took a bit more to get into, and could have used one or two more episodes to flesh out the (redemption of the) ClanDestines (horrible name). But it is entertaining, though not as great as Moon Knight. This is more of an origin / coming of age combo.
Verdict
Still, go and watch this show. It's different and takes a little getting used to, but it's okay, and a good lead-in to the upcoming movie The Marvels.
Length
Personally, I like my series a little longer. They don’t have to be drawn out as some of the Netflix series, but just 6 or 8 episodes of an interesting concept with interesting characters might not be enough, as both Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel (and Hawkeye) prove.
Note on Hawkeye: the ending was wrong. King Pin, using a straw hat (or whatever that dead thing on his head was)... Sorry, but Netflix did a better job!
Why isn’t Disney making these just a tad longer? Money? Perceived risk? I don’t get it. I mean, they took some serious risks with Wandavision… and She Hulk is even more risky.
She Hulk
Lessee how that one works out. At least it features Tatiana Maslany of Orphan Black fame!
Update. Wow. Euh... Well, this is certainly an acquired taste. In some ways its fun, and I'd love to see Tatiana Maslany in a full feature movie, but this series has not worked out that well...
The Verdict
Probably won't work for most people. A pity. A lost chance. Can we keep Maslany though?
