Netflix - The Queen's Gambit (2020)

Series Review.

I’m in love. Not necessarily with Anna Taylor-Joy (who, frankly, is way easier on the eyes than I am šŸ˜‚ even if deliberate make-up choices make her look a little weird now and again), no, I'm in love with the sixties. I’m a bit surprised that nobody is mentioning Beth Harmon’s… eh… predecessor / inspiration misses Emma Peel šŸ˜…

The future (of the sixties) today!

Spot the differences šŸ˜Ž

Seriously though, I sometimes think I’ve been born a little too late. Why do I like the clothing, the music, the style of the sixties? Is it a longing for a time when everything seemed so much simpler? (A time before my time, as I was born in ‘65, after all.)

Outfit? Hairstyle? What is it? I say: let’s bring the (English) Avengers back on screen, with Anna Taylor-Joy as the new Emma Peel.

Slow fare... and yet...

As for The Queen’s Gambit… It’s not my typical fare, and a bit slow now and again (many binge worthy serials are these days) but I liked it. If my opponents would have been that good looking, back in the days I was still playing chess, then I would have never stopped…
