Ah... What to make of this...

Good, but...

Season 1

I just finished season 1, and it's fine. Not as good as it could be though, and that's primarily because of two (three?) simple reasons.

1. Superpowered

Why must aliens always be superpowered?!? I could live with the supernatural parts (talking to animals, kinda) but the superpowered part (catching a bullet) just didn't do it for me. And it added little to the story.

2. Aliens

Yes, he's an alien. And yet it plays pretty much not a role at all in the plot (except for catching that bullet). There must be more! Conflicting groups, conflicting interests. One group that wants to take over the earth, the other one opposed to it. Maybe two groups of aliens. Some kind of background, overlapping multi season arc.

And yet... there's nothing. Most of the aliens leave, and Sugar (and it seems one other, evil-bastard one) stay behind. That's it.

Still... they could re-visit earth. It doesn't have to be a single visit...

3. Plot

It's a basic murder mystery... Well, more a kind of ultra-violent-murder-and-torture kind of mystery, but that's what the basic plot is. The whole 'lost sister' and 'being aan zaken' subplots had little actual impact.

The Verdict

Okay, but could have been better with a bit of Fringe sauce / X-Files spice thrown in.
