I think I'll leave it up to you to decide what part of the world this applies to, but it is scary how certain politicians are copying the pre-WW2 Nazi handbook...

Each page of the countdown posts this year is written 'in the past', or 'will be posted in the future'. I.e. I write it today (it's September 5) and set the posting in December 2025. They're about something that bothered me that specific day. Or made me happy. Or piqued my interest.
Today, it's about a serious threat to the free world. We're heading into dictatorship territory, or (and it's almost scary to say so) in a full civil war, which might actually even be preferable. That is scary...
Have we learned so little... It's September 5, and the world still is a scary place, and getting scarier by the day.
How to become a dictator?
I've noticed that certain players follow an almost identical playbook to Hitler and his Nazi goons...
1. Find a group of people to blame. It's not important if they're really to blame, as you are going to repeat the message until your voters believe it.
2. Stop free press. Make sure you control the press, so that no one can write anything opposing the view you promote.
3. Suppress free thinking. And what place better to suppress free, investigative minds, then right when they start to become inquisitive, ie. at schools? So, shut down any university and school that allows people to have their own opinion.
4. Kill the legal system. Perhaps not openly, but subvert it. Put your own cronies everywhere, so that they either interpret laws and regulations in a way most beneficial to you, or simply give you a permanent and free 'get out of jail card'.
5. Show your force and scare the populace. Have armed and masked soldiers roam the streets. Have them ready in case anything happens that need a quick suppression (such as protesters protesting, or perhaps you need to overrule a pesky local police force that is trying to uphold the law, or you might eventually decide to stay in office, even when voted out).
6. Pick up random people and make them disappear. Without court. Due process. Even a phone call.
And that's just part of it.
Look around you - and seriously look around you. Recognize these kind of events and people?
We all do.
But... why?
So why do people follow narcissistic power hungry charlatans? If history has proven one thing is that they are typically in it for themselves, and the populace be damned. I guess many people just look for lazy, quick solutions, and a better life for themselves wihtout putting much effort into self betterment.
Yes. We're all lazy. We're too lazy to use our brains. And so we follow the person who yells the loudest.
