Summary
2023 was an odd year... it's like nothing happened and yet many things did. But I feel like all I did was survive, carry on, live with things. I've done a lot, and yet accomplished little.
Did I accomplish anything, or was 2023 simply a lost year?
It almost feels like a lost year... Well, if it was a lost year, then let's learn from it! Let's make 2024 the opposite and accomplish a great many things!
Novel
I still haven't finished my novel, and that's getting seriously stupid by now. I mean, I started working somewhat seriously on this thing back in... 2020, I think?
With the third part now back from the editor it is time to give it another, final shove, because it is something I just have to do.
On top of that, it is a good intention...
Ukraine / Taiwan / Gaza
I hope we will find a peaceful solution and restore the borders to pre-invasion lines. I hope that Putin and Russia will understand that demilitarization and denazification have little to do with the current war.
I hope that the conflict in Ukraine does not trigger China to expand into Taiwan. And now we have another escalating conflict in the Gaza area.
You can't change history by wiping away complete countries, it just doesn't work that way. Extremism, terrorism, and imperialism, none of those work in the end. It's more about people wanting to make a point and have things their way, then it is about right or wrong.
Let's not add any more wars in 2024...
Global Warming
It looks some of the naysayers are finally getting off their high horses. It's real, people, it's real.
Health
No major improvements, no major setbacks. I think finding another job would make life easier, but it's not that simple.
Traffic
Yeah. Idiotic bosses and employers want to see everyone back in the office. That the world kept turning when Covid was at its worst seems to have left out collective memory. Amazing. And amazingly stupid.
Good Intentions
I am going to lose 20 kilos. Period. And I'm going to publish TWO books. Writing that down (whilst reading the wrap-up of 2022) feels wrong, as that was my plan for last year as well...
Fuck it. This year I am going to accomplish that.
