Ann Gimpel - Earth Reclaimed - Earth's Requiem / Earth's Blood / Earth's Hope

Audiobook Review.

Sometimes I sample ultra cheap offers on Amazon / Audible. Here's one of those... It's another typical fantasy / romance with some 'porny' chapters inserted ('She took his cock in her mouth' etc.)...

Unfortunately, though the premise is promising (post apocalypse, Celtic gods, latent magic etc.) the books as a series fail to hold my attention, and I don't need the porn scenes to spice it up. (It isn't romance, it's porn. Duh.)

Premise

At the onset the premise is interesting. The world is overrun by aliens / dark gods, and the last remains of humanity have developed magical abilities and fight for freedom. Magic comes in several different types, like healers, hunters that have a bond with their animals, and... other sorts. Then in book two it starts introducing Keltic gods and dragons, and suddenly the type of magic matters little. That the MC has the unique ability to control all kinds of magic becomes irrelevant. She's just an Irish descendant and a love doll for one of the broad chested gods. Add some Norse gods in book three... and things become... even more bla bla bla.

There's enough happening, but it isn't interesting, and if not for the youngling dragons I would have quit at book two.

Titles

  1. Earth's Requiem
  2. Earth's Blood
  3. Earth's Hope

Narration

The narration is good, the accents seem about right, although now and again the narration is a little flat. I guess the narrator also wished the story would come to an end.

The Verdict

Nah. Unless you have nothing to read, and you like your dark fantasy interspersed with 'cock in mouth' scenes you can do a lot better.
