Datatalk / Touch Portal.
I like Touch Portal but found the conversion of .ico to something Touch Portal can understand a pain, so I modified WallX a bit to make the process easier.
Converting icons / images for WallX and Touch Portal
Every kind of launcher, be it WallX, Touch Portal, or even the Windows desktop itself, requires icons. On Windows these come as .ico files, but Touch Portal doesn't support those, whilst Windows doesn't support anything but .ico files for its desktop icons (or does it these days, I should check 😅).
You may find a nice collection of icons in another format (often .png) or you might want to convert one type to another. Or what if you want to rip some icons from your nice Windows desktop layout?
WallX to the rescue...
- open WallX (doubleclick on the systray icon)
- drag a .lnk .exe .ico file, or a desktop shortcut (which is a .lnk file) onto of the WallX window
- WallX shows the 'Program' tab
- it tries to retrieve the right icon from the file
- hit the 'export' button to save four variants of your icon (.bmp .ico .jpg .png) for use in another program
You can also convert .bmp and .jpg files to .ico .png .bmp .jpg using the icon image...
- open WallX (doubleclick on the systray icon)
- go to the 'Program' tab
- drag any file or desktop shortcut onto the 'image' box
- it tries to retrieve the right icon from the file
- hit the 'export' button to save four variants of your icon (.bmp .ico .jpg .png) for use in another program
Touch Portal
Here's a little vid of Touch Portal interacting with OBS, and changing buttons / icons. Click to play (no sound).
And so...
So, now you can have those same icons everywhere 😊
