Jake Bible - Flipside

Review.

In Flipside a group of people travel back in time through a kind of 'time bubble'. The actual flipping mechanism is interesting, and is (of course) abused by (of course) the Russians, who go on to (almost) destroy the world.

The sudden stop at the end

Still, it's better than Mech Corps though again there are a few tropes, and it all feels a bit like a paper / spoken version of the TV series Primeval.

What this book also has in common with Mech Corps is the sudden stop at the end. It's not even a real cliffhanger, the book just stops.

No surprise then: there will be a sequel.

Narration

Again narrated by Andrew B. Wehrlen, with the same a-little-too-fast narration. I'm still not sure if this is to hide the flaws of the book, or make it shorter... Perhaps both 😄

Verdict

It's regular fare and doesn't stand out. If you like simple, somewhat militaristic SF with real men as heroes who fight dinosaurs in the past you'll take it. The only redeeming characters are Elvis (who wouldn't even enter the building) and the old man.

But if that's enough?
