Game of Thrones - Season 3

Review.

Where season 2 was mere 'meh' season 3 goes all out. Murder? Check. Blood? Check. Rape? Check. Revenge? Check. Mutilation? Check.

Well, I wasn't expecting too much after season 2, but this time... wow...

Spoilers ahead!

Broken vows

The moment Rob Stark breaks his vow and falls in love with the doctor you know, you simply just know things are not going to end well.

And they didn't.

Nothing in Game of Thrones ends well, I guess... I'm not sure if that is what makes Game of Thrones (sometimes) great, but season 3 has been fantastic. Keep 'm coming!

Season 3 Episode 3

Brienne of Tarth and Arya are my two favorite characters. Let's just add a little tribute to what must be the greatest swords-woman of Westeros (Arya's perhaps a better killer, but that's not the point):

But Brienne is more than just a fighter. Yes, she did beat Sandor Clegane AKA The Hound. She's one of the most integer characters in the show, and smitten with no one but... Jaime Lannister.

Seriously?

It's amazing how the show managed to gather sympathy for Jaime, who is basically an asshole who tried to kill a Stark kid (after having some intercourse with his own sister). Somehow you start feeling sorry for the bastard, even though he doesn't deserve it. The only way he could redeem himself is by falling in the fight against the white ones. But... he's still an asshole.

So what does she see in him? I have to hand it to the show-runners, the way they handled this relation, even when Jaime is a hand short now. Brienne's help came in handy.

What? I bolted upright when Jaime's hand was cut off. What?!? Didn't see that one coming...

Season 3 Epsiode 4

Now that's an interesting way to get yourself an army... Fire in the hall, or something along those lines.

Season 3 Episode 9 'The Rains of Castamere'

Of all episodes thus far this was the most shocking one. Mention 'Red Wedding' and every Game of Thrones fan will nod in agreement: this episode is a game changer.

I wonder if I should even mention the things going on... Well, I expected the relation between Rob Stark and Talisa to be doomed, but I didn't expect exactly this ending. Red indeed...

After killing off Ned Stark at the end of season 1, now half of the remaining cast is taken out and will not see season 4. Impressive. This way I can stop halfway season 4 as there is nobody left alive 😁

An extremely good but shocking episode. Game of Thrones is not for minors, that's for certain.

Season 3 episode 10 'Mhysa'

Joffrey kills Ros.

There. I've said it.

Just one more death, but still... Things did not end well for Ros, and I'm pretty sure things are not going to end well for King Joffrey. And man, does he deserve to die! You would expect the killing of one woman to have little impact after the massacre the previous week, but somehow this is just as bad, if not even worse.

I wonder how the servants in that castle felt when having to clean up the remains... Or how they managed to ignore the screaming...

Let's find all season 4 episodes and continue watching! In a couple of months the final season will be arriving, and if they can keep this up I'd be mightily impressed.
