Audiobook Review + Adrian Tchaikovsky
Book 1 featured intelligent spiders, and book 2 added intelligent octopi (?) and bacteria to the mix. (Not much of a spoiler as that's pretty clear from the start).
The Verdict
Let's start with the verdict. It's a good read, and one of the few stories that manages changes in perspective and tense shifts well. My only complaint would be that it is a tad slow, and overstays its welcome near the end.
Still a good read.
Narration
Fine, fine. No comments.
But...
These are good stories. Imaginative. Creative. Logical. Involving. And yet... I miss that spark, that high-octane, heart-pumping, mind-shattering something that blows me away. Good stories, yes, in a kind of literary way. I applaud politely, give a short bow, and move on.
I miss the adventure. And that's doubly sad, as one of the main players in this tale uses exactly that line: "We're going on an adventure."
Octopi
Octopuses, obviously. Octopussies... well... No.
