Homematic controlled (floor)heating

DIY + Domotics

This post describes my Homematic heating control system.

I live in a place with four floors (it's not as big as you'd suspect with the house just 5 metres wide, and the top floor is only partially usable due to the sloped roof) with the two lowest levels having floorheating. I am using a Homematic domotics system to save energy by only running the pumps when needed.

What if your gadget needs a memory card... that is no longer available?

Is this a column? Not exactly, but a recent event made me realize that technology fails, and that sometimes we depend on that technology in very essential ways. Take heating. My heating failed (or appeared to) because of a failing SDHC card.

(Lots of interesting reading on ageing of SDHC cards you'll find here and here. And here.)
