I would never let an AI write any of my stories. And - had I been a musician - I would never use AI to compose or sing or perform.
Still, even I have to admit AI is getting impressive, though it isn't perfect.
I wrote the lyrics to this song myself, then build a prompt and had an AI generate it. (Frankly, I cannot even remember which one I used, sorry.)
Under an Open Sky (Chase the Dream) - Lyrics
[Verse]
Dusty roads stretch far and wide
Wheels hum a song where I find my stride
Under an open sky that I call mine
Mountains rise as I leave this place
The sun my compass the world ablaze
Leave me all alone and I'll be fine
[Verse 2]
The road is endless as I dare
To find my way without a care
The city and the night I leave behind
Mountains rise as I leave this place
The sun my compass, the world ablaze
Follow the road and let my soul unwind
[Verse 3]
A thousand miles under the sun
I can't remember when I begun
To live the dream I always kept inside
I'd rather drive my life away
Than feel locked up no time to play
This yearn for freedom I can no longer hide
[Chorus]
Under an open sky
No roof above my head
My Miata flies
With thousand miles ahead
[Prechorus]
Every curve and every bend
Oh I hope it’ll never end
[Chorus]
Under an open sky
There's nothing left to say
Hear that engine purr
This is the only way
[Bridge]
Wind wraps around my face
Time fades in this endless space
No chains no trace, only my peace of mind
[Verse 4]
The smell of coffee tar and beer
I chase the sun, no longer fear
The dreams that held me back such a long time
Dusty roads stretch far and wide
Wheels hum a song where I find my stride
Under an open sky that I call mine
[Bridge]
Wind wraps around my face
Time fades in this endless space
No chains no trace, nothing but my peace of mind
Production
I wrote the lyrics
An AI generated the audio
Then I smoothed and edited the result a little.
And loaded the whole thing into KDEnlive to create a video and show the lyrics
You can see the final result on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkNwAsjbcho
AI
I would never use an AI to create a story or music. I want to write myself. I want to tell the story.
Perhaps - some day - AI will be good enough to create something entertaining, but that doesn't mean I will let it write my stories.
For day to day usage, I rarely use AI, except perhaps for the 'enforced Gemini' that Google throws at me. I've simply seen too many errors and mistakes.
I do believe AI will transform the world, but we might have to look at it differently. AI will not replace all humans, it will replace 9 out of 10, with the last remaining worker doing the work of 10 with the help of the AI agents / bots.
That's where many companies go wrong: they think they can replace their workforce, and I strongly believe they cannot (and should not). I also doubt they will actually make a lot of money on replacing their workforce with AI...
Unfortunately, AI seems to transform the world in many bad ways, as it is the number one tool used by populists to create a worldview that isn't real. And it puts many writers and artists out of their livelihood. Yes, it's great that I'm not an artist 🤔
