Jim Butcher - Storm Front / Fool Moon / Grave Peril

Review.

These are the first three books of The Dresden Files. Wizzard PI battles wolves and vampires and the IRS, all for a mere 50 bucks an hour.

Dapper

I saw some references to Butcher’s Dresden books in Dapper, but never read any of them thus far.

To correct the error of my ways I’ve just finished the first three, and they are fun.

A little softshoe, some private eye, and a dose of Constantine. I like ‘m thus far, but I fear the ‘formulaic’ ‘clichematic’ approach of Stormfront appeals more to me than the later novels. Still, it’s a lot better than some of the drivel I worked my way through, and who knows, perhaps it picks up (or returns to its gumshoe roots) later. We’ll see.

Titles

  • Storm Front
  • Fool Moon
  • Grave Peril
  • ...

There are many more, but I've thus far only read / listened to the first three.

James Marsters

The audiobooks are narrated by James Marsters (yep, Spike of Buffy fame). He does a very decent job using his own, different style of narration. I like it.

The Verdict

Good stuff. Read it.

(I should have paid some more attention to my fellow Dapper members and started this series earlier. Oh well... kept something good for later then.)
